Vida Nueva Elementary School grade five
Your class is learning a lot this year! In Grade 5, the students are discovering what it means to belong to the Body of Christ and learning to rely on the power of God to face daily challenges. They demonstrate a keen interest in learning to live according to biblical principles and moral, ethical and civic values, and they are also learning to understand the Bible’s structure. In Grade 5, students are continuing to work on math concepts such as fractions, ratios, proportions and decimals. They are learning to write well-structured paragraphs and to express emotions, feelings and thoughts through oral presentations, dramas and songs. They are learning to use science and technology, previous knowledge and research to creatively propose solutions for real-world issues.
Vida Nueva Elementary School
This class is part of Vida Nueva Elementary School, which opened in 2014 and now serves over 120 students from Kindergarten through Grade 7. Our students come from the communities of Villa Nueva and Tierra Linda, as well as rural homes throughout the surrounding area. These families face extreme poverty and lack access to a public school. In the past, children were forced to travel to neighboring villages just to receive an education, a challenge that led many to stop attending altogether. Vida Nueva, conveniently located within reach, has become a lifeline for these students, offering local, accessible education. Many of our students come from single-parent homes, and some even live on their own while their parents are away working. Finding enough food each day is a struggle. At Vida Nueva School, children receive a nutritious daily meal and the supplies they need - resources that would otherwise keep them from attending. Many students that have graduated from the Vida Nueva Elementary program have gone on to Junior High at Vida Purulhá School. Today, students at Vida Nueva are being inspired to learn, to grow, and to trust God with their futures. They are receiving an academic education and lives are being changed as students learn to seek God and bring His love home to their families. Our hope is that they will grow into godly leaders who will serve the Lord and impact their community.
